Dr. Sujay A. Vora

Dr. Patel is a radiation oncologist at the Dignity Health Cancer Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. He is board-certified in radiation oncology and has clinical expertise in brachytherapy. Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and subsequently his residency in radiation oncology at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. He then completed his fellowship in brachytherapy at the University of California, Los Angeles under the guidance of one of the pioneers of prostate high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy. During his fellowship, he had extensive training in brachytherapy for prostate, skin, gynecologic, and sarcomatous cancers.Dr. Patel aims to educate his patients regarding their diagnosis and guide them in making a treatment decision after carefully reviewing the risks and benefits of each option.  He has special expertise in the management of prostate and skin cancers, and is able to provide individualized treatment approaches within a context of evidence-based medicine.   For prostate cancer, Dr. Patel offers external radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, and high-dose-rate brachytherapy all in combination with hydrogel placement in order to reduce rectal toxicity. For skin cancer, Dr. Patel offers external radiation therapy as well as custom skin mold high-dose-rate brachytherapy which can significantly shorten treatments and reduce dose to surrounding tissues. A native of Indiana, Dr. Lucas moved to Phoenix in 1992, establishing his practice at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center where he was the medical director of radiation oncology services prior to joining Arizona Oncology in November 2008. Dr. Lucas has extensive experience with the utilization of advanced technologies including image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and brachytherapy. He also has extensive experience with brachytherapy for the treatment of gynecologic and breast diseases, including the use of various applicators for accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI). Additional special interests include treatment of prostate, lung and colorectal tumors well as brain tumors and sarcomas.   Dr. Lucas is a published writer and speaker on various radiation topics.To help people achieve health for life. Dr. Mutyala attended college at the Pennsylvania State University and earned his medical degree from Texas A&M University College of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery internship at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Mercer University followed by his radiation oncology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami. He completed a Brachytherapy Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and is board certificated in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology, with a board subspecialty certification in Brachytherapy. Prior to joining Arizona Oncology, he has held prestigious positions such as: medical director of radiation medicine at The University of Arizona Cancer Center at St. Joseph's, chairman of radiation oncology and associate director at Scott and White Cancer Institute and director of brachytherapy at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.In addition, Dr. Mutyala graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Public Health (MPH), has authored over 40 publications and book chapters, and lectures nationally and internationally, including for the Harvard Brachytherapy Annual Review, American Society of Radiation Oncology and American Brachytherapy Society. He has experience in IMRT, stereotactic radiosurgery, 3D conformal radiation therapy and unsealed radionuclide treatment.  He has expertise in treating a wide range of cancers, with particular expertise in gynecologic cancers, pelvic tumors, prostate cancer, breast cancer, sarcomas, skin cancers, and brachytherapy.My mission, along with the Dignity Health Medical Group, is to focus on innovative clinical care and the pursuit of excellence through scholarly activities.
