Karen May, M.D. is an emergency medicine physician at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Dr. May earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. and completed her residency at Louisiana State University in Emergency Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from College of Charleston. Dr. May is board-certified in emergency medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Georgia College of Emergency Physicians. She won national awards for her service in helping victims of Hurricane Katrina during and after the disaster hit Louisiana. At that time, she was an emergency physician with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in Jefferson, La. and serving out her residency. Dr. May also completed a fellowship at Emory University and is now board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a member of the Junior League of Atlanta.
