Dr. George S. Ferzli
Overview
I am an active Professor of Surgery at SUNY Downstate and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Lutheran Medical Center. I have lectured in medical schools and universities as well as operated in hospitals in 60 cities throughout the world. In addition, I have graduated 25 laparoscopic fellows since 1995.I am the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. I have more than 125 peer-reviewed published articles and have participated in more than ten medical textbooks. I have been an innovator in minimally invasive surgery and hold seven U.S. patents for laparoscopic surgical instruments.I am a graduate from St. Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon and completed my residency in General Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital. I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and am board certified in Surgery and Critical Care Medicine. I reside on Staten Island with my wife Berthe and have four children.
