Overview
One of the special things about electrophysiology here is that we have we have a really large department. We have 13 electrophysiologists, which is more than some cities have. A unique aspect of Duke is that there is a lot of collegiality among our providers. We certainly approach patients as a team. That’s a huge benefit for patients coming to Duke. With such a large and unique department, we’re certainly able to deal with many complex patients. Some of my favorite patients are those I have followed for years. It’s an ongoing relationship that I have and seeing them come back and telling me about all the wonderful things they are doing is really satisfying.

I am a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, a cardiologist who focuses on invasive and non-invasive treatments for the electrical problems of the heart, such as arrhythmias. Patient and family-centered decision-making is a core principle of my approach to patient care. I believe it improves the overall quality of care and patient and family satisfaction. When necessary, I can perform a wide variety of procedures for my patients, including ablation of simple and complex arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and ventricular tachycardia, and implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators, and left atrial appendage occlusion devices. I have expertise in implanting newer and complex devices, including cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, conduction system pacemakers, leadless pacemakers, and subcutaneous defibrillators.
