Dr. Ryan Chua

Dr. David M. Systrom is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.He received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School (now known as Geisel School of Medicine). He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Emory University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research into the regulation of cell death proteins by IL-6 cytokines in mice led to the discovery of a relationship between dyspnea and mitochondrial dysfunction, and resulted in additional clinical studies examining the abnormalities of inflammatory mediators and oxygen extraction in patients with PAH. He has authored over 110 peer-reviewed publications and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
