I am a full-time practicing Interventional Anesthesiologist, certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and subspecialty certified in Pain Medicine. I hold current licenses to practice medicine and surgery in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Colorado with clinical offices in New Jersey and Colorado. As Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Drexel University, I trained anesthesiology residents in my subspecialty for 10 years. I see complex headache, neck, shoulder, hip, low back and extremity pain patients with extensive expertise in cervicogenic headache and low back pain including several thousand RF lesioning procedures. My expertise in diagnosing and treating complex painful conditions is nationally known and I was honored to be invited to author a recent 35 page book chapter on "Spinal Diagnostics for Interventional Pain and Surgery" at the request of the American Society for Pain and Neuroscience. I have performed over 40,000 procedures for diagnosis and treatment of radiculopathies, including for treatment of herniated discs. I treat vehicular and work injuries as well as patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I perform full-video spinal lumbar endoscopic surgeries for treatment of disc herniations, radiculopathy or foraminal stenosis as well as sacroiliac joint fusions and limited minimally invasive posterior spinal fusion procedures. I have personally taught well over 1,200 physicians to evaluate and treat nerve injuries, radiculopathies, spinal facet and sacroiliac joint pain problems in accredited CME lectures at local, regional, national and international meetings. I have written extensively on treatment of cervical whiplash injuries, disc injury, radiculopathies and spinal diagnostic procedures. As Principal Investigator on research studies, I have pioneered newer techniques to treat pain. Originally trained in Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University provides the necessary quantitative scientific background in biology, physics and mathematics to understand and apply these principles in conjunction with my knowledge of anatomy, medicine and the neurobiology of pain to the analysis of the clinical circumstances of human pain and injury. The practice does NOT offer routine opiate prescribing nor chronic medication management services. Dr. Petersohn is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Herniated Disk.
