Overview
Dr. Wise is a pulmonary, critical care physician. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with obstructive lung disease, including those with asthma and COPD. He is a consultant for patients with scleroderma and interstitial lung disease. He has expertise in pulmonary physiology and lung function testing. Dr. Wise’s research focus is the conduct of multi-center clinical trials in airway diseases and related translational research. Dr. Wise is the co-director of the Pulmonary T32 Multi-disciplinary Training Program in Pulmonary Disease.

He then joined the faculty at LSU in New Orleans, where he served as the Director of the Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Center. He joined Johns Hopkins in 2023. He currently serves as the Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Care Center and is the Associate Program Director for the Advanced Lung Disease Fellowship. His research focuses on the intersection between ILD and pulmonary hypertension, particularly in patients with systemic sclerosis. He is currently a co-Principal Investigator for a clinical trial of therapy for scleroderma associated pulmonary hypertension supported by the Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program. He is active in numerous societies and serves as the Chair of the Research Committee for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
