Mousumi Moulik, MD, is director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She helps families with appropriate risk assessment and clinical screening of at-risk family members. Dr. Moulik also leads an NIH funded research lab with focus on heart failure signaling. Her academic mission is to forward the understanding and treatment of heart failure by defining the underlying molecular genetics and fundamental molecular mechanisms of heart failure. Current ongoing research projects in her laboratory include determination of the role of 'Hippo' pathway in heart failure, understanding the circadian biology of cardiac function and heart failure, metabolic abnormalities of heart failure, immunologic mechanisms of myocarditis, and causes of infantile cardiomyopathies. As an educator, Dr. Moulik is actively involved in training of medical students, residents, and fellows, both as a clinician and a researcher. She is a member of the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Academic Society, and the Society for Pediatric Research.
