Overview
Nicholas R. Mahoney, M.D., is an Oculoplastic surgeon at the Wilmer Eye Institute's locations in Bethesda and Baltimore, Maryland. He is the chief of Wilmer's Oculoplastics Division. Dr. Mahoney specializes in surgery of the tissue surrounding the eyes, including the eyelids, eye socket (orbit) and tear drainage system. This includes removal of benign and malignant lesions of the eyelid and eye socket, repair of eyelid and eye socket trauma, reconstruction of the tear ducts and surgery for correcting abnormal eyelid position. Eyelid surgeries include surgeries for drooping eyelids, extra eyelid skin and heavy eyebrows for both functionally reconstructive and cosmetic reasons. Dr. Mahoney received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He then completed additional specialty training as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow at the Wilmer Eye Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mahoney joined the Wilmer faculty in 2012. He has held various administrative responsibilities and is currently the Vice Chair of Information Technology & Data Science for the Department of Ophthalmology.

Ashley A. Campbell M.D., is an associate professor in the division of oculoplastics at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. After receiving her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard Medical School). She then completed additional specialty training as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow at Columbia, Cornell, New York University, and Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Campbell’s clinical interests include reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelid and periorbital area, management of tear drainage issues, Mohs reconstruction, eyelid and orbital tumors, orbital surgery, orbital trauma, thyroid eye disease, and facial rejuvenation.
