Overview
As a general endocrinologist, Dr. Grethen is an expert in a variety of endocrine conditions. She is especially passionate about caring for people with diabetes, both type 1, type 2, and other forms. She utilizes technology whenever possible to ease the management of diabetes for her patients, including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump therapy. Other areas in her field of special interest include hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, pituitary disease, osteoporosis, parathyroid and calcium-related disorders, PCOS, prediabetes, and management of diabetes during pregnancy. At her direct care clinic, she is able to provide ample time to get to know each patient. She notes that taking the time to listen to the details enables superior patient care. She espeically loves developing the physician-patient relationship, finding that getting to know patients over the long-term enables her to take better care of their health needs across the lifespan. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and travel.
