Dr. Marcelo Rocha

Marcelo Rocha, MD, is a neurologist and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is director of the NIH StrokeNET Research Fellowship and is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by his fellowship at UPMC. Dr. Rocha’s clinical and research interests focus on the management, diagnosis, and prevention of acute stroke. The goal of his research is to identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of individual tolerance to different sub-types of ischemic stroke. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Stroke Association/AHA, and the European Stroke Organization.
