Dr. Alan Decherney

Kate Devine, M.D., FACOG, received her bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a pre-medical concentration from Columbia University. She went on to obtain her medical degree with distinction in ovarian cancer research from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After finishing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the New York University School of Medicine, she completed a 3-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), during which time she was the recipient of the NIH Intramural Loan Repayment grant for her research.While pursuing her medical education, Dr. Devine worked extensively in the field of women’s health in the developing world. She worked for the International Organization for Women and Development in Niger on an obstetrical fistulae repair mission. She also worked in women’s reproductive health for Child Family Health International while in Quito, Ecuador. She has studied in India and Australia as well.Dr. Devine is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, including ovulatory dysfunction and ovarian aging. She has also been active in fertility research, publishing on topics ranging from fibroids to egg freezing for fertility preservation. She will continue her research goals and advancing those of Shady Grove Fertility as Medical Director and Chief Research Officer of our network, US Fertility. Dr. James Segars is director of the Division of Reproductive Science and Women’s Health Research and a professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. He leads the Howard W. and Georgeanna Seegar Jones Laboratory of Reproductive Sciences and Women's Health Research, where he and his team focus on endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and reproductive and ovarian disorders. Dr. Segars received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and earned his M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a clinical fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Segars performed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Molecular Growth Regulation at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2015. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Dr. Segars was head of the Unit on Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Segars has published more than 160 peer-reviewed research articles and serves on the editorial boards of Reproductive Sciences, Molecular Human Reproduction, Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, and Fertility and Sterility. Selma Amrane, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications in topics such as preimplantation genetic testing and in vitro fertilization. Dr. Amrane earned her medical degree from University of Maryland, School of Medicine. After finishing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, she completed a 3-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Amrane has received several honors, including the Lewis Harriman Douglass Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Diversity Scholarship while in medical school. In residency, she was recognized with the Distinguished House Staff Award and with medical student teaching awards. Dr. Amrane has been an advocate for patient access to fertility treatment and has participated in lobbying on Capitol Hill with organizations such as RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She has also presented her research on multiple gestation and in vitro fertilization at several national meetings. A Maryland native, Dr. Amrane is excited and honored to care for patients from her home state to achieve the goal of growing their families. She is fluent in French and Spanish.
