Overview
Philosophy of care | I have two young daughters and had a complicated pregnancy myself, so I understand what my patients are experiencing. I feel that it is very important to involve them in their care. I take the time to ensure that they understand their diagnosis, what it means to them and their baby, and what options are available. Together, we can then make decisions that are truly in the patient's best interests. | Why I entered medicine | My parents tell me that I've wanted to be a doctor since I was 4 years old. My pediatrician was most influential. She was gentle and caring, including me in everything she did. I loved using her stethoscope and looking in her ears. I remember wanting to be just like her. I entered medical school planning to be a pediatrician but found myself drawn to obstetrics. There was something very special about caring for pregnant women and being part of their nine-month journey. It was my natural path. | Community involvement | I am active in my church, and I participate in many activities that support children and families, such as Toys for Tots, the March of Dimes walk and community clothing drives. | Personal interests | When I am not working, I love to spend time with my husband and two young daughters. As a working mom, it's sometimes difficult to find time for all the activities I enjoy. You could say that hiking, traveling, kayaking and reading are on my wish list!.
