Following residency training in pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Walling completed her fellowship training in pediatric hematology-oncology at Washington University where she earned her master's degree in population health sciences. Dr. Walling joined the faculty at Michigan in 2016. She founded and is the co-medical director of the Michigan Medicine Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program.
