
Overview
Geoffrey W. Krampitz, MD, PhD, FACS, FSSO is a fellowship-trained pancreatic cancer surgeon and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgical oncologist specializing in the surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer, pancreatic tumors, liver tumors, and bile duct cancer. He serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Sutter Health Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame, California, and practices within the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dr. Krampitz’s clinical practice focuses on pancreatic cancer surgery, including pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure), distal pancreatectomy, and complex pancreatic tumor resection, as well as surgery for liver tumors and other gastrointestinal cancers. His approach integrates advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques with multidisciplinary cancer care.
He earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and completed his MD-PhD training at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery residency at Stanford followed by fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
