"""Dr. Bates received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, and his MD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Following an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, he practiced obstetrics and gynecology in rural Georgia before his fellowship. Dr. Bates completed his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He subsequently served on the faculty at Wilford Hall Medical Center before his 10+ years as the fellowship and division director at UAB where he attained tenured full professor status. Dr. Bates is a board-certified specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and subspecialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. His clinical acumen and bedside manner have made him a patient favorite with multiple awards.
