Dr. H J. Pfaeffle

H. James Pfaeffle, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers and a member of its hand and upper extremity team. He studied mechanical engineering prior to entering medical school, and earned his medical degree and doctorate in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Pfaeffle completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at UPMC. He completed a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he refined his skills in hand and upper extremity surgery and microsurgery. Dr. Pfaeffle is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and Allegheny County Medical Society. In addition to performing arthroscopic hand, wrist and elbow surgery, Dr. Pfaeffle treats congenital hand conditions, fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, and arthritis.
