Dr. Ismael S. De Armas

Dr. Ismael Salas de Armas earned his medical degree and finished a residency at the Universidad Central De Venezuela. He completed a second residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute-Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Salas de Armas, who has been in practice since 2001, is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. His primary clinical interests include general cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass, valve repair or valve replacement, transcatheter valve replacement, transplant and mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, lung cancer, pleural diseases and video-assisted thoracoscopy. He sees adult patients and also speaks Spanish. An assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, he is known for having an excellent bedside manner and for taking the time to talk to both his patients and their families.
