Dr. Judy R. Mangion is the associate director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). A cardiovascular medicine and echocardiography specialist,  she is also a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). She has served on the board of directors of the American Society of Echocardiography, a consultant for the FDA, and has conducted peer review in echocardiography for the American Medical Foundation for Research and Education.Dr. Mangion received her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed an internal medicine residency program at The George Washington University Hospital. She then completed two fellowships: one in Cardiovascular Disease at Baystate Medical Center, Tufts University and the other in advanced echocardiography at Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut. Dr. Mangion is board certified in cardiology and echocardiography.Her clinical interests include valvular heart disease, pericardial diseases and diseases affecting the right ventricle and aorta, advanced cardiovascular ultrasound imaging including 3D echocardiography, quality assurance in cardiovascular ultrasound, strain, contrast echocardiography, multimodality cardiovascular imaging, and all aspects of clinical cardiology. The author of over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr. Mangion’s research focuses on the safety and efficacy of ultrasound contrast agents, barriers to the appropriate utilization of contrast echocardiography and myocardial contrast perfusion echocardiography for assessing cardiac transplant rejection. Her research has received funding from the National Institutes of Health.
