Overview
As a dermatologist, I have the opportunity to take care of patients of all ages with a variety of conditions. I love how versatile dermatology is and enjoy every aspect of the specialty, from common skin disorders to complex medical dermatology. It's very satisfying to me to help a patient solve a challenging rash and start them on a treatment that works. Sometimes a rash or other skin condition can be a clue to a patient's internal health and I have the ability to detect problems early on when they are easiest to treat. I believe that skin health is closely connected with a patient's mental health and how they feel about themselves. I love helping patients achieve the skin they want, to feel more confident and healthy. My Jesuit medical school roots have taught me the importance of “cura personalis,” or care for the whole person. When taking care of my patients, I consider their overall health and lifestyle and use a team approach. I take the time to discuss the many different available treatment options with my patients and consider their health goals. Listening to them and understanding their needs is one of the most important parts of my job. I also believe that it is important to communicate with my patients' other care providers to coordinate treatment plans and notify them of clues from the skin to the patient's overall health. Outside of my practice, I love spending time with my daughter, husband and two dogs. I also love to cook, play volleyball and water ski.
