Overview
Mansoor Shariff, MD, is a gastroenterologist at UW Health. Dr. Shariff treats patients who have diseases of the digestive tract (involving the mouth, throat, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, rectum and anus). These include peptic ulcer disease, reflux, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and other stomach disorders.Dr. Shariff specializes in caring for patients with chronic gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms such as abdominal (stomach) pain, bloating and visceral hypersensitivity (a neurological disorder causing pain in the chest, abdomen and pelvis).During his evaluations, he considers both physical and emotional symptoms, recognizing the relationship between the brain and gut when it comes to stress-induced symptoms. When meeting a patient for the first time, he tries to relieve any anxiety or concern they may have, understand their story and learn what’s going on with their health.Dr. Shariff’s goal is to get medical answers for all of his patients in order to help them feel better, get on a treatment plan and resume a normal lifestyle. It’s most rewarding for him to see his patients improve and to educate them on their diagnosis and medications, enabling his patients to manage their diagnosis in the future. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Shariff is a clinical associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In his free time, Dr. Shariff enjoys golfing, reading, spending time with family and rooting for the Packers and the Badgers. My hope for all my patients is that we can manage whatever is ailing them so that they can lead full, healthy lives.
