Dr. Marie Menke

Dr. Marsh is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan Medical School and Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.She attended Harvard College where she graduated magna cum laude followed by Harvard Medical School where she graduated cum laude in 2001. She then completed her residency at the Integrated OBGYN Residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in 2005. After residency, Dr. Marsh completed a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at Northwestern University. During this time, Dr. Marsh also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) from Northwestern University. After completing fellowship in 2008, Dr. Marsh joined the faculty at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.In 2016, Dr. Marsh joined the U of M family. She is the founder and Director of the onWHARD collaborative, a group dedicated to women’s health and reproductive disparities research, education, and advocacy. In this capacity, she leads several large research studies including SOAR, a project investigating ovarian aging in African American women, and ELLAS, a cohort study designed to help health care providers better understand reproductive health conditions affecting the Latina/Latinx community.Dr. Marsh is also a committed community advocate. She builds bridges between community organizations and academia with community-based participatory research initiatives that have led to funding, publications, and awards. Yolanda R. Smith, MD, MS is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and faculty of the Reproductive Sciences Program. Dr. Smith received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her medical degree from Wake Forest University. Following residency training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and University of Michigan in obstetrics and gynecology, she completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Johns Hopkins University. She joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1995 and completed additional training in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis. Dr. Smith serves as research director for the NICHD sponsored University of Michigan Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Program, designed to increase the research capacity of clinically trained ob/gyn’s. Her research interests focus on the field of neuroendocrinology, specifically studying the effects of ovarian aging and impaired glucose metabolism on women’s health. Dr. Smith works with several national and international organizations to advance women’s health. She is a co-investigator with the Center for International Reproductive Health Training. Dr. Smith also serves on the Board of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Council of the Society for Reproductive Investigation and on the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Research Committee. Samantha Schon, MD, MTR is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received her bachelor's and medical degree at the University of Michigan. She then completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. Following residency, Dr. Schon completed her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the University of Pennsylvania. During this time, she also obtained a Master’s Degree in Translational Research while investigating the role of histone modifications in human sperm. In 2016, Dr. Schon returned home to UofM to join the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.Dr. Schon has a special interest in the intersection of obesity and fertility. She is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Schon directs the Michigan Interdisciplinary Clinic for Obesity & Reproduction (MICOR). Dr. Schon is highly rated in 7 conditions, according to our data.
