Michael Svestka, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine at Inova. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Inova Comprehensive Hernia Program. Dr. Svestka is an active member of the American Hernia Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), as well as a peer reviewer for the SAGES affiliate journal, Surgical Endoscopy. He is committed to staying up to date on the latest research and techniques in the field of hernia surgery and is a member of the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative, a national database designed to track hernia outcomes.
