Dr. Mustafa Nazzal

Dr. Mustafa Nazzal specializes in: Adult and pediatric liver transplantation; liver tumors and minimally invasive liver surgery; complex hepato-biliary surgery; and split liver transplant. He performs kidney-pancreas transplant surgery, intestinal rehabilitation surgery, and general surgery on transplant and cirrhotic patients. Dr. Nazzal uses the latest surgical techniques, including laparoscopic surgery for liver tumors in cirrhotic patients. His research includes pre-transplant loco-regional therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma and post-transplant outcomes, and collection of blood and liver tissue for research, with the goal of growing hepatocellular carcinoma cells in mice. Dr. Nazzal is assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he holds memberships in the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, American Association for Liver Disease, and the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. Dr. Nazzal enjoys table tennis and has an interest in constitutional law.
