Daniel Abbott, MD, FACS, is a surgical oncologist at UW Health. He specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies, melanoma and sarcoma as well as ovarian, appendiceal and colorectal cancers. Lee Wilke, MD, is a UW Health surgical oncologist and professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is also the senior medical director of clinical cancer services for the UW Health|Carbone Cancer Center.Dr. Wilke treats people with breast cancer and noncancerous breast disease. She also cares for people who are at high risk for breast cancer.Dr. Wilke considers it a privilege to care for cancer patients. She performs partial mastectomies with oncoplastic approaches (remove the cancer while preserving the shape and look of the breast), skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomies, sentinel lymph node surgery and axillary lymph node dissections.Dr. Wilke’s goal is to offer patients the latest cancer treatments. She also is a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. She treats patients with breast cancer, benign (noncancerous) breast disease and various skin cancers, including melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma.Dr. Neuman performs advanced procedures designed to remove cancer cells while preserving the appearance of the breast. These include lumpectomy, partial mastectomy and skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She also performs lymph node biopsies, lymph node dissections and wide local excisions to treat skin cancer.During initial visits, Dr. Neuman talks with patients about what’s important in their lives. She listens to their concerns and outlines treatment options. She works to ease their anxiety and help them make informed decisions.To improve patient care, Dr. Neuman researches tools that help people understand the pros and cons of their treatment choices.
