Dr. Carney received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center (UT Health) at Houston. He is an assistant professor in the department of Internal Medicine at UT Health. Dr. Carney is board-certified in internal medicine. Among the many conditions he treats, Dr. Carney's special interests are hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Carney believes that patients who know and understand their condition are more successful in their treatment, so he takes the time to educate patients about how their illness affects their body and the rationale behind their treatment. He enjoys getting to know his patients and sees himself as an exceptional listener, calm, easy-going and understanding. Dr. Carney's hobby is electric trains, and he enjoys spending his free time with his children and grandchildren.
