I believe that from a very young age, I have always had a special way of connecting with children. As a medical student I was fascinated by how resilient children are when facing stress, trauma, illness and challenges. When dealing with young patients who are often afraid of things like shots, developing a rapport and connection with them helps me in providing care for their emotional, physical and social development. As a pediatrician, one of the roles I particularly focus on has been working with children and adolescents — and their families — to both prevent and treat childhood obesity.
