I take care of children and adolescents who have pediatric rheumatic diseases. These include juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus, juvenile dermatomyositis, scleroderma, and vasculitis. As my patients learn very quickly, I am passionate about physical therapy. I truly believe that with proper nutrition and exercise the human body can heal itself of most ailments and prevent them. I became interested in physical therapy while I was in the Navy and had a major ankle injury requiring multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation. I have now found that my favorite injuries to treat are of the foot and ankle. As a mediocre, but avid, runner, I also love to treat runners of every type. My wife, two boys, and I moved to North Carolina in 2017 and have loved every day in this great state. I enjoy running, swimming, cycling, weightlifting, and playing rugby. My hobbies include woodworking, mechanic work, and playing with my children. Most of my continuing education has been geared toward manual therapies techniques from head to toe, treating a running population, pain science education, and nutrition.

My interest in sports medicine evolved out of a love for movement. This interest, coupled with an insatiable thirst for continued learning, led me to specialize in sports medicine physical therapy. My clinical interests are simultaneously diverse and narrow, most prominently with interdisciplinary care and lower extremity injury rehabilitation. I love what I do, and have been lucky enough to let my personal and professional interests merge - with advanced trainings and specialized education for treatments of runners and female athletes. In my treatment approach, I strive to listen and be an empathetic provider, addressing individual needs and personal goals. Ultimately, I hope to not only help someone rehabilitate after an injury, but also increase their self-efficacy and confidence in movement. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am also involved as a teaching assistant in the Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
