Dr. Donald Putman

Dr. Aparna Prasad is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist with Atlantic Medical Group and a practicing physician at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center, as part of the Goryeb Children’s Hospital. A specialist in diagnosing and treating heart conditions in children, Dr. Prasad treats congenital heart disease, acquired heart diseases, arrhythmias and dysautonomia disorders such as POTS, to name a few. To ensure an accurate diagnosis, she and her team use advanced imaging techniques such as cardiac MRI and CT in addition to fetal and pediatric echocardiography. She has a unique interest in understanding cardiac changes in patients with oncologic diseases utilizing an advanced imaging technique called speckle tracking/strain echocardiography. Dr. Prasad is a compassionate physician who strives to educate pediatric patients and families about treatment options and interventions that provide the best outcomes. She works closely with families, subspecialists and each patient’s primary care pediatrician to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical care.Dr. Prasad received her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University. She went on to receive her medical degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She pursued postdoctoral training as a resident of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She has published manuscripts and abstracts in medical journals and recently received a grant to pursue research to determine cardiovascular changes in pediatric patients with eating disorders. She is passionate about resident teaching and is closely involved in designing their cardiology curriculum. Dr. Prasad maintains membership in the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology.
