Overview
I’ve been interested in medicine ever since I was a child. I see medicine as being an ideal opportunity to do something interesting because I don’t think there’s anything more interesting than the human body and fixing it when it’s not working correctly. As the director of Duke’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, I see patients in the intensive care unit, but also see patients in the clinic. When I first meet a patient, the most important thing for me is to establish trust and understanding with them. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, reading and keeping up with Duke sports.

I encourage patients and their family members to ask questions so that I can help them understand their health. I offer medical therapy and catheter ablation therapy to patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), and ventricular tachycardia. I also place transvenous pacemakers and defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, leadless pacemakers, and subcutaneous defibrillators. I also perform lead extractions.
