"Philosophy of care | My philosophy is rooted in making sure you and your family have a complete and transparent understanding of both the treatment and the goals of care. It is paramount everyone is ""on the same page"" – whether it is an easy or a hard conversation to have. I truly believe in ""shared decision-making"" between clinicians and their patients. Doing what is right for you includes listening to what you want. | Why I entered medicine | Between my wife's family and my own, I come from a long line of physicians and advanced care clinicians. I grew up watching my parents, both internal medicine physicians, care for patients in small communities in northeastern Pennsylvania. I was instantly drawn to the lifestyle and the idea of doing my part to keep folks healthy and happy for generations. | Community involvement | I am always looking for ways to become more involved in the community. I have volunteered at soup kitchens, Meals on Wheels and church events, as well as community screening events for student athletes in the Philadelphia area. | Personal interests | I am a ""car guy"" through and through. My love of automobiles started as early as I can remember, and I love sharing my passion with my children. I also love building Lego sets (mostly cars) and watching Formula 1 racing. I have a passion for photography as well.".

He is an interventional and an advanced heart failure cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and management of patients with both advanced coronary artery disease and heart failure, with specific focus on cardiogenic shock, advanced hemodynamic and mechanical circulatory support and complex interventional therapies, including complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). After completing medical school in Tehran, Iran, he emigrated to the United States and completed four years of research and clinical fellowship in nephrology, under Dr. Robert Schrier, focusing on heart-kidney interactions. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University. Dr. Masoumi completed additional training in cardiovascular disease at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, where he was elected as chief fellow. He obtained further training in both advanced heart failure, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support, as well as interventional cardiology at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.Dr. Masoumi believes in a dedicated multidisciplinary team approach to patient care especially with advanced heart failure and complex coronary disease. He offers world-class knowledge in interventional heart failure and mechanical circulatory support.Involved in many ongoing research protocols, Dr. Masoumi’s research focuses on management and improving the survival of patients suffering from cardiogenic shock. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews, abstracts, and several book chapters.Dr. Masoumi is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
