She completed her fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic and her neurosurgery residency at Ohio University COM-Riverside Methodist/Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Dixon is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Cervical Spine Research Society, American Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Psi Sigma Alpha Academic Honor Society.
