Dr. Albert Fenoy is the director of functional neurosurgery at Northwell Health. As an experienced, world-renowned neurosurgeon specializing in complex brain and spinal disorders, he acts as the Director of Functional Neurosurgery at Northwell Health. After obtaining his medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine, he completed his residency at the University Iowa followed by fellowship training at CHU Grenoble in France. He began his career at The University of Texas Science Center at Houston, where Dr. Fenoy became prominent for innovating the field of functional neurosurgery. Dr. Fenoy is also a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is committed to providing the highest level of patient care using the latest techniques and technology.
Dr. Fenoy is an active researcher at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, focusing on the development of new surgical techniques and technologies to improve outcomes for patients with neurological conditions, including deep brain stimulation (DBS) and other forms of neuromodulation. He has utilized this expertise in DBS by performing over 700 cases to date. Dr. Albert Fenoy is also known for his expertise in high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), a non-invasive surgical technique that uses focused ultrasound waves to heat and destroy targeted tissue without harming surrounding healthy tissue. In 2023, North Shore University at Northwell Health equipped Dr. Fenoy with this technology in order to bring the highest quality of care to the community.
Dr. Fenoy has been involved in several clinical trials in DBS and has been exploring the use of HIFU for the treatment of a variety of movement disorders such as essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. Through his work with HIFU, Dr. Fenoy provides patients with innovative, non-invasive treatments that offer fewer complications and a faster recovery time. He has also been actively involved in educating other physicians and surgeons about the use of DBS and HIFU in the field of neurosurgery.

She has held faculty and leadership roles throughout her career, and currently serves as professor of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. As a core faculty member of Northwell's neurosurgery residency program, she is committed to training the future leaders of brain surgery.Dr. Ullman currently serves on the New York state trauma and advisory committees, and was the first woman to serve as an officer and vice president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. She also previously served as chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care.
