Dr. Patrick L. Godwin

I aim to carry out the mission and spirit of community health. I believe a healthy community is a diverse community, and I am excited to serve the population in Durham and the surrounding community. Outside of work, I enjoy playing and coaching basketball, cheering for my kids at their soccer games, sitting on the porch with my husband, reading, and visiting with my parents, who live in Durham. I came “north” to Durham in 1998 to attend Duke Medical School. Little did I know at the time that Duke would become home to me. I also have the opportunity to work with new doctors in training on a daily basis, providing education to them in the primary care setting. I love taking care of patients in the outpatient setting, managing chronic diseases, and getting to know my patients – their health and their lives. I believe that the physician–patient relationship is a unique one and it is a privilege to be a part of patients’ lives. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my family and taking advantage of the benefits of living in the Triangle.
