Dr. Laura Olivieri

Matthew Zinn, DO, is a pediatric cardiologist certified by the American Board of Pediatric Cardiology. He is a cardiologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his doctoral degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and did his pediatric residency at Jefferson Medical College. Dr. West received his medical degree from Augusta University Medical College of Georgia, after which he completed his pediatric residency there. Subsequently, Dr. West completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Virginia, earning a master’s degree in Clinical Research from the University of Virginia at the same time. Following fellowship, he pursued advanced training in heart transplant, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced mechanical support at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. As an advanced fellow, Dr. West served as the Claude R. Joyner Endowed Fellow in Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. West’s main clinical role is in support of the heart transplant, cardiomyopathy (heart failure), advanced mechanical support, and pulmonary hypertension team. He has participated in several multi-center collaborative research projects. His primary research interest is outcomes-based research of patients following heart transplant. Mousumi Moulik, MD, is director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. Dr. Moulik earned her medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. She completed both her pediatric residency and pediatric cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. Dr. Moulik's clinical expertise is in cardiovascular genetics, cardiomyopathies, connective tissue disorders resulting in aortopathies, general cardiology, and noninvasive cardiac imaging. As Director of the Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic, she oversees the clinic’s work of determining an underlying genetic etiology for inherited familial cardiovascular disorders including various forms of cardiomyopathies, heart rhythm disorders, aortic aneurysms, inherited lipid disorders, and unexplained sudden cardiac arrest. She helps families with appropriate risk assessment and clinical screening of at-risk family members. Dr. Moulik also leads an NIH funded research lab with focus on heart failure signaling. Her academic mission is to forward the understanding and treatment of heart failure by defining the underlying molecular genetics and fundamental molecular mechanisms of heart failure. Current ongoing research projects in her laboratory include determination of the role of 'Hippo' pathway in heart failure, understanding the circadian biology of cardiac function and heart failure, metabolic abnormalities of heart failure, immunologic mechanisms of myocarditis, and causes of infantile cardiomyopathies. As an educator, Dr. Moulik is actively involved in training of medical students, residents, and fellows, both as a clinician and a researcher. She is a member of the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Academic Society, and the Society for Pediatric Research.
