Dr. James M. Poindexter Jr., M.D., received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and completed his medical degree at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri. He served as surgical and chief resident at the University of Connecticut before completing his vascular surgery fellowship training at New York Medical College. He then served first as an Assistant Professor and then as Associate Professor of Surgery at the Morehouse School of Medicine, providing clinical instruction to Morehouse and Emory University residents at Grady Memorial Hospital.Dr. Poindexter is board-certified in surgery and licensed in both Georgia and Missouri, Dr. Poindexter's Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory was one of the first to receive full accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission on the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. Wilson Surgical Attending of the Year Award from the Atlanta Medical Center and the Georgia Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Poindexter has served patients at Piedmont Hospital since 1996.
