He furthered his training still at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio where he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. During this training period at the Cleveland Clinic, he worked with some of the country's most distinguished electrophysiologists, including Dr. Andrea Natale, Dr. Patrick Tchou, Dr. Walid Saliba, Dr. Ousama Wazni and Dr. Bruce Wilkoff. He also developed an interest in clinical research and published several studies focusing on pacemaker and defibrillator lead extraction methods, focusing on overall safety and success rates. He has authored several research papers and literature on defibrillator implantation and cardiac re-synchronization therapy (CRT). Dr. Alves has joined the Heart Rhythm Specialists of Southern California, where he served as the Director of the Pacemaker and Defibrillator Clinic and was also a Co-Director of the Atrial Fibrillation Center. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
