Dr. Teresa Swida

Dr. M. Teresa Swida has been in General and Family Medicine practice in Southern California for 17 years. She has devoted much of her career to underserved Spanish speaking community of Northeast Los Angeles. Her passion has always been in the areas of prevention and nutrition. As a former teacher, biologist and environmentalist, as well as the mother of three children and six grandchildren, she has a unique set of experiences which she brings to practice of medicine. As a physician she became increasingly more frustrated with not having thr right tools with which to help prevent diseases. In her search for alternative and complementary methods of healing she studied homeopathy, nutrition and attended a myriad of conferences to understand the alternatives available to traditional western medicine. In 2005 she was certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine. In 2007 after extensive training she became certified in Anti-Aging, Restorative and Functional Medicine by the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine, and is in the process of pursuing a Masters degree in this field. She is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians in taking advanced training as a medical bariatric specialist. Dr. Swida uses an integrative approach combining the best of scientifically based western medicine and melding it with the newest research on herbs, vitamins and supplements, as well as bio-identical hormone balancing and replacement for both men and women. Dr. Swida is able to treat illness and promote optimal health by assessing each patient?s unique biochemistry and then tailoring individual programs to restore health and promote wellbeing through h improved nutrition, weight loss, stress reduction and when indicated, hormonal replacement. She is also able to treat children and young adults with food sensitivities, neurotransmitter imbalances, attention deficit disorder and mood disorders and help them reach their greatest potential. Dr. Swida is a member of LACMA, AOA, ACAAM,IFM, ABHM, ASBP. She is also a member of Medical Staff at Glendale Memorial Hospital, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Verdugo Hills Hospital and CHA- Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.
