Dr. Ard spent time as a Battalion Surgeon under the US Army Special Forces command, serving both at home and overseas.Dr. Ard completed extensive research on the CLOSURE 1 Trial: “a prospective, multicenter, randomized, controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the STARFlex septal closure system” and The PROTECT AF (Watchman Left Atrial Appendage System for Embolic Protection in patients with Atrial Fibrillation) trial, among others.
