Dr. Wassef Karrowni, M.D., is a board-certified interventional cardiologist with expertise in coronary, peripheral, and structural heart interventions. Dr. Karrowni attended medical school at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He trained for residency in internal medicine, fellowship in cardiovascular diseases, and subspecialty in interventional cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has received several honors and awards including the Doctor of Medicine awarded with distinction, elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society, elected Fellow of the Year consecutively for academic years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, and served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology for academic year 2011-2012. Dr. Karrowni has published more than 30 book chapters and research papers, including prestigious publications such as the Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC) and Circulation.
