Dr. James J. Hefferan

Dr. James Hefferan is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist at Atlantic Medical Group. Board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he has more than 30 years of clinical expertise providing comprehensive cardiac care, diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease as well as congenital and structural heart conditions. He has special training and experience in using catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting. Dr. Hefferan believes in providing compassionate, personalized care to his patients providing education on preventative care and using minimally invasive treatments such as catheterization to open blocked arteries and avoid open-heart procedures.After earning his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, Newark, NJ, Dr. Hefferan performed his residency at University Hospital, Newark, NJ, where he remained to complete a fellowship in cardiology. He went on to complete a second fellowship in interventional cardiology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, also in Newark.Dr. Hefferan is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
