Dr. Hey J. Chong

Laura Joyce West, MD, is a specialist in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. West received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in categorical pediatrics, serving as chief resident from 2017-2018, followed by a fellowship in allergy and immunology, both at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She has a special interest in medical education and mentorship and serves as the director of the medical student and resident electives in allergy and immunology at UPMC Children’s Hospital. She also conducts advocacy work with a particular interest in promoting universal statewide newborn screening for severe combined immunodeficiency. Dr. West is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the Clinical Immunology Society, the Pennsylvania Allergy and Asthma Association, and the Greater Pittsburgh Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society.
