Overview
I went into medicine because I enjoy working with people and improving the quality of life of my patients. I have been working in general neurology for the past nine years. I particularly enjoy working with movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, etc. These tend to be very complicated diagnoses and I enjoy the extra time spent with my patients educating them about these diseases, management and expectations. I am originally from Raleigh but have been living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the past 11 years. I am excited to be back in the Triangle area and working for Duke Neurological Disorders Clinic at Morreene Road.

I fell in love with neurology on day one of my clerkship year in medical school. To me, the opportunity to help patients and families through complex illnesses is simultaneously challenging and incredibly rewarding. I ultimately chose to sub-specialize in movement disorders because I enjoy being able to form long-term relationships with patients and families, and I'm optimistic that a disease-modifying therapy for Parkinson disease is within reach. I'm also a core faculty member of Duke's Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities, and the History of Medicine, where I develop programs to help students and trainees understand the patient's perspective, improving clinician resilience and mitigating burnout. Outside of work, I am an avid runner and cyclist, looking forward to exploring trails around the Triangle.
