Alexander Shifrin, MD, is an endocrine surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group Surgical Associates of CentraState and surgical director, CentraState Endocrine Program. He is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and in endocrine neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided thyroid biopsy by the American College of Endocrinology. These include thyroid gland diseases such as: thyroid cancer, multinodular goiter, Graves’ disease; parathyroid gland diseases such as: primary hyperparathyroidism, secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism; adrenal gland diseases such as: Cushing’s syndrome, primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome), pheochromocytoma, and adrenal incidentaloma; familial endocrine syndromes; and other hereditary endocrine syndromes. Utilizing an evidence-based approach, Dr. Shifrin employs state-of-the-art techniques to perform hundreds of surgeries each year with precision, accuracy, and extremely high success rates. He works in collaboration with other specialists to provide patients leading-edge cancer treatments in a safe environment. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), and Fellow of the International Society of Surgery (FISS).Dr. Shifrin has edited and authored several books and atlases, including the Atlas of Thyroid Surgery, Atlas of Parathyroid Surgery, Atlas of Adrenal Surgery, Atlas of Parathyroid Imaging and Pathology, Endocrine Emergencies, Advances in Treatment and Management in Surgical Endocrinology, and Endocrine Surgery Comprehensive Board Exam Guide, book chapters, and peer-reviewed papers.
