Dr. Karl Larsen

Dr. Matthew Delarosa is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. He provides both surgical and nonsurgical treatment to improve function and reduce pain. He focuses on complex trauma and reconstruction of the upper extremity, wrist surgery and arthroscopy, elbow surgery, targeted muscle reinnervation, elective treatment of nerve compressions and hand arthritis, and injuries to soft tissues including nerves, tendons, and ligaments. Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Delarosa completed medical school and orthopedic training at LSUHSC New Orleans. He then further specialized in Hand and Microsurgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC under the direction of Dr. Glenn Gaston. In addition to the full spectrum of routine upper extremity problems, a significant portion of his fellowship training concentrated on brachial plexus and complex peripheral nerve injuries. Additionally, he traveled to Florianopolis, Brazil to study under Dr. Jayme Bertelli, an expert in peripheral nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries, and tendon transfers. He is also interested in improving function of upper extremity amputees through targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and the use of a myoelectric prosthesis. Through his work in congenital, brachial plexus, and amputee specialty clinics he has gained a wealth of knowledge on the multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Prior to working at OCC-Cornerstone, Dr. MacTaggart graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, where she also played on the women’s soccer team. She attended medical school at The University of Washington, graduating magna cum laude and was nominated to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. After medical school, Dr. MacTaggart completed her residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.
