He is also an associate professor of urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a pediatric urology fellowship at the Harvard Medical School and Children's Hospital. He joined UPMC upon completion of his fellowship.
