
Overview
Dr. Asheesh Bedi is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery specializing in sports medicine, including arthroscopic and open surgery for athletic injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He is the Executive Director and Chief of Sports Medicine at Michigan Medicine, and the head orthopaedic team physician for U-M Athletics. He is also a team physician for Chicago Bears, medical director for the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), and a consultant for the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA).Dr. Bedi completed his undergraduate training at Northwestern University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School with AOA recognition and remained in Ann Arbor to pursue residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. After completing his training, Dr. Bedi completed a two-year fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.He has also pursued additional dedicated training in arthroscopic hip surgery for young athletes. Dr. Bedi has authored over 350 articles, chapters, and peer-reviewed publications on shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip injuries in athletes. He has won numerous prestigious awards in the field, including the ASES Neer Award, AOSSM Cabaud and Excellence in Research Awards, and is a member of the Herodicus Society.

Dr. Biermann serves as Director of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Program at the University of Michigan. Her clinical interests include malignant and benign tumors of soft tissue and bone, both primary and metastatic. Her practice includes both adults and children. Dr. Biermann chairs the Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Tumor Board, a collaborative cancer center group including medical and pediatric oncologists, pathologist, diagnostic radiologists, and radiation therapists. The Sarcoma clinic meets weekly. The University of Michigan Sarcoma team engages in patient care, clinical trials, and basic science research. In addition to her regional responsibilities, Dr. Biermann has been active in national committee and administrative work. Her active research program has included more than 87 publications in the areas of musculoskeletal tumors and in the impact of the Internet on patient education. Dr. Biermann is the University of Michigan Medical Director for the Sarcoma Program and the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Director. His practice also includes all sports injuries of the knee and shoulder (ACL and meniscus tears of the knee, cartilage injuries of the knee, and shoulder instability).Dr. Miller has an active clinical research program focusing on shoulder replacement surgery and rotator cuff disorders. His research in these areas has been recognized with many honors and awards. He has authored numerous articles, chapters, and peer-reviewed publications on shoulder and knee injuries.
