"Brian Fallon, MD, is a thoracic surgeon at South Shore University Hospital. He specializes in treating a variety of conditions of the lungs, chest and airway, with a special focus in minimally invasive and robotic lung and esophageal surgery, and endoscopic management of cancerous and noncancerous tracheal and esophageal diseases.At a very young age, Dr. Fallon knew he was destined to help others. ""My passion for the field of thoracic surgery began in middle school,"" he says. ""I used to look at picture books with hearts and lungs in them, and was fascinated by what surgeons could do. I always knew I was meant to do that one day.""Before joining Northwell Health in 2008, Dr. Fallon graduated from St. George's University Medical School. He received his general surgical training at Albany Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, and completed his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.As a lifelong resident of the south shore of Long Island, Dr. Fallon is dedicated to making thoracic surgical services more accessible to the community. Through the Heart & Lung program at South Shore University Hospital, his team uses cutting-edge surgical techniques like minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery. They also work closely with the nationally recognized Imbert Cancer Center in Bay Shore to bring state-of-the-art cancer care closer to home, including medical and surgical oncology, radiation therapy, interventional radiology, diagnostic imaging and support groups. New clinical trials are also being developed at the center, so patients have access to the newest, most innovative cancer treatments.Dr. Fallon is board certified in general and thoracic surgery, and a member of the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Honor Society. He is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society. Dr. Fallon's work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, which feature multiple topics in thoracic surgery. He currently serves as assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.For Dr. Fallon, providing the highest level of care goes way beyond having the best surgical skills.
