
Overview
Dr. Schirmer is board certified in neurological surgery and is fellowship trained in interventional neuroradiology and endovascular neurosurgery. He holds subspecialty certificates for neuroendovascular surgery and neurocritical care. His clinical interests include care and management of patients with acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke; intracranial aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations; carotid, vertebral and intracranial atherosclerosis and stenosis; and spinal vascular malformations. He specializes in endovascular flow diversion techniques, skull base surgeries and minimally invasive craniotomy techniques. He earned his medical degree at the Medizinische Fakultät at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in Germany.
