He then was able to attend Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine during which time he developed his interest in surgery. He was then able to attend Franciscan St. James General Surgery residency at Olympia Fields, IL. Dr. Tarasov wanted to be a community surgeon around the area where he grew up, and after completion of his residency he was able to join Chicago Surgical Clinic which is only a few miles away from the home where he grew up.
